I found this article to be concise and to the point . If you have ever wondered how to keep your brain in tiptop working condition the article tells you what you must do. It is pretty darn simple when it comes right down to it. Some nutrient rich foods and some vitamins will pretty much do it.  The article is worth taking two minutes to read. KJ

brainYou’ve heard of anti-aging products for your skin, but what if there were foods you could eat that would prevent memory loss later on in life?A wide array of sources has noted the importance of omega-3 fatty acids in the diet and how consuming foods high in this nutrient can lower the risk of cognitive decline. Foods known to contain high amounts of omega-3 include fatty fish oil (salmon), walnuts, flaxseeds, sardines, anchovies, and lake trout.

“Omega-3 fatty acids protect the brain against oxidative stress [damage generated by unstable molecules called free radicals],” explains Paula Bickford, a doctor of pharmacology and professor in the department of neurosurgery and brain repair at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. In addition, “Nerve tissue uses omega-3 fatty acids as the building blocks for cells,” says Bickford, and omega-3’s help with signalling within and between nerve cells, which helps your brain function properly.
